Alex is a helpful little ant, she's here to answer
any questions you might have about gaming. All you
have to do is email Ask Alex and your question and
answer will appear on this page (where appropriate).
Here's some we've
already received. Check and see if yours is here
before you contact Alex the Ant with your question.
Q.
Alex, I've saved my allowance (pocket money) and
now I don't know if I should get a DS Lite or a
PSP, my mate says the PSP is better, what's true?
A. It depends on the sort of games you like. If
you want console games (that's games you play on
your PS2 at home) on your handheld, get a PSP. If
you want lots of cute, fun, easy to pick up and
play games that use a touch screen, get the DS Lite.
Q.
Who would win in a fight between Sonic and Mario?
A. Sadly for Mario, I think maybe Sonic would win,
because he's much faster, but if Mario had something
helping him other than just jumping, he might do
better.
Q.
If you could only have one handheld what would it
be?
A. Me personally, I'd choose the Nintendo DS, I'm
small, it's small and I like all the games on it.
I do have a PSP too, but I play with my DS more.
Q.
Why can't I play certain games, like Grand Theft
Auto or something?
A. You can't play certain games because they've
got stuff in them that's not good for younger gamers.
Things like lot's of swearing, violence and other
things.
Q.
Who's better, Mario or Link from Zelda?
A. Wow, that's a tough one, they're both so cool!
I guess Mario is a little cooler as he's done so
many things, adventures, rescues, sports, driving.
Link is really cool too though.
Q.
When I go on holiday to America, can I buy games
and movies for my British PSP?
A. American games will work on your PSP no problem,
but the UMD Movies are region coded, so usually
US ones won't work, unless you have a US PSP. Still,
that leaves you more money for games.
Q.
Is it true you can die from playing games, my pal
said it is and so did his brother.
A. Well, some people have died while playing games,
but this is very rare (it hardly ever happens).
Doctors think this is because they sat in the one
place for way too many hours and didn't move around
or eat and drink. So the game didn't make them die.
Remember to take regular breaks from your gaming.
Q.
When does the Wii come out in the UK?
A. The Wii doesn't have a release date yet, but
I think it will come out around late November. Make
sure you get your parents to pre-order one if you
want one, because the shops aren't going to have
lots at first.
