ThumbBandits.com : Welcome

Well if you've found you're way here you're either lost, bored or want to know more about the site... so if you fall into any of those categories you've come to the right place! Here you'll find a little explanation of the various areas both menu related and forum related.

Thumb Bandits Comix gives us all space for a giggle.
They're all based on the things we're into such as Gaming
Games Release Dates Thumb Bandits will try to keep this as up to date as possible, in this here release dates section!
Honorary Oakley The Honorary Oakley highlights one cool female character a month, be she real, virtual acted or otherwise. Bullet Reviews Bullet Reviews are no nonsense straight to the point reviews that let you know in seconds if it's a stinker.

ELSPA Charts The ELSPA Charts are updated weekly so you can see what's hot and what's not! Spotlight Saloon The Spotlight saloon is where you'll find all the latest press reports and highights of upcoming titles.
Gold Rush Only games that get a review score of 9 or 10 end up here in the Gold Mine. Buried Treasure Overlooked gems of gaming will be going here in the near future.
High Noon This is where two games that are similar go head to head in a showdown to see who's quicker on the draw. Mac Attack Forum Section especially for the mac lovers amongst us!
The Mine Shaft Beware! Only games that score a 3 or less in the reviews end up in the Mine Shaft! Retro Recoil Gone but not forgotten, this is the hiding place of all those retro reviews.
Spiders WEB Whilst spidering the WEB you might find a cool flash game, why not add it here for others to find! Ghost Town Survival Horror gets its own games reviews section, dare you venture into the Ghost Town?

Mobile / Handheld Gaming Giddy Up and Go is the Mobile Gaming section where you'll find news and reviews of various formats. STAFF Who runs this one horse town pardner? Well here's your answer.
Most Wanted Games This is our members Top Ten most wanted games of the moment. It will be getting refreshed shortly. F.A.Q. The Frequently Asked Questions section where you may just find the answer to that query you have.
Live Enabled Games Listing The Live Enabled Games Database. This will eventually show all the online details those live games have. Gamertag Database Members of our community can include their Xbox Live Gamertag details here.
Additional Queries:

Can anyone join Thumb Bandits?
Of course, we welcome ALL newcomers with open arms, we're not a cliquey community.

Why do you have so many female members?
Just VERY Lucky. Our large female member demographic sets us apart from most other gaming communities and we see this as a good thing.

I'm pretty forum shy... Where should I begin?
Begin anywhere you like, but a simple way to begin is to put a small intro to yourself in the 'Wanted Dead or Alive' section of the forum. You can see what other people have said in theirs to give you an idea if stuck.

Why can't non members post?
Simple... Guest postings are a spammers delight. You therefore have to be a registered member to post.

Well that covers most of the menu and forum sections, which are the usual things we get asked about ("what's this section for?") and some of the most asked questions that have come up since we started the site. If you need to know anything not covered here, or have a suggestion as to things you feel SHOULD be covered here then just PM one of the admin team and we'll get straight on it.

The main thing to remember with regards to the site is we're gamers who LOVE gaming and we want to bring you, the member, a good resource and somewhere fun / relaxing to hang out. We're not interested in Flame wars like some other forums seem to be. This is all about the games and making new friends. Feel safe and hang out with us... we have Sherrifs all over the place... our town is outlaw free. ;o)

I've Left Our original FAQ at the bottom as it's a little more indepth but covers everything already explained.

We're REALLY hoping we don't get grief for this section since it's designated 'female only'. Given the SHEER amount of male only / male interest stuff on other gaming sites we thought we'd try a different approach.. the strong / cool woman over the usual 'DAILY BABE' or 'CHESTY BROAD' sections on some other sites. This section honors one cool female character a month.. members vote.
Something to add a little light amusement to the site. The Thumb Bandits comix are all related to those things we as Thumb Bandits members know and love best. These include technology, gaming, computing etc. Anyone can make a comic for this section!
Pretty self explanatory, these are editorials written by not only the Thumb Bandits Admin team but we're also hoping by our forum members too! The way we see it this is a community site so we'd love it if people took part on a deeper level. So if you have an idea for an article let us know!
This is one of the Game Reviews section. We think this one is handy because these are JUST the games that have scored a 9 or more over ALL formats in any of the other game review sections. This makes it easy for you to see ALL of the truly amazing games reviewed on the site in the one area.
Another Review section. We thought it made sense to section off the Survival Horror genre games and give them their own section on the site. It's an area that is growing all the time with developers and it houses some of the more chilling moments in gaming
This is the section in which two games that hold a lot of similarities go head to head to see which one comes out on top! The cool thing about this section is they DON'T have to be from the same platform even, we're firm believers that new doesn't necessarily mean better so we'll be throwing a few retro vs next gen into the mix.
Every now and again there comes a game that is amazing but it gets swept under the rug either because of no marketing or plain stupidity on the part of the gaming community. This is the area you'll find those games that are hidden treasures, games that although overlooked overall deserve some recognition.
Let's not beat around the bush here, Bullet reviews AREN'T meant to tell you frame rates, discuss draw distance, mow over capacity etc. The Bullet review is something we felt other sites overlooked (to their detriment), they're SHORT and let you know what you want fast.. does the game suck or is it worth buying. It's a no frills review.
Most of the Admin Team here at Thumb Bandits are 'Old Skool' gamers, we've been gamers a LONG time and we therefore know there's some treats to be had on olderformats. This is where we'll review those and let you know what you just might be able to pick up for only a couple of bucks at your local cash convertors.
Beware all ye who enter here! This is where the truly bottom of the barrel games end up. Use this section as a warning area to let you know just what games you should really be avoiding. May they stay forever buried!
This WAS originally going to be a menu item, but we opted to instead do what many forums don't, we added a mac section. This is so all us Mac people can talk about anything Mac related, be it hardware or software.
Who knows... a chat facility is something we're thinking about implementing in the future, although in the past we have found these rarely get used. This is part of the reason we decided to just have a section in the forum called the Saloon instead (at least for now).
This was going to be another main menu item but due to the brilliance of our Lady coders is now a lovely automated right side menu item where you can add any cool webgames you come across on the web. Just click it and add your link!
