Oh but what's this? Greedy capitalist pigs got in the way? No pictures to use along with the article because someone is using them to bleed money out of American history and 'culture', so we can't run an Annie Oakley article because we're not rich enough, because we don't have pockets deep enough to dig into to pay the Buffalo Bill Museum $40 per picture, yes, that's right... are we annoyed.. yes a little... but we are more deeply saddened, which is why this months Honorary Oakley is different.. We're looking at why the world is so f_cked up, all brought on by this one little interaction... funny how that can happen isn't it......

The World is Screwed... Get Used To It:
You know you're in trouble when you realise it pays to be bad, it pays to steal, it pays to lie and it pays to cheat, your life will be far better for it, you'll be wealthier, you'll be 'made', you my dear reader will be trouble free and most importantly richer. Had we stolen the pictures, as so many sites do, the article would be live and there'd be a zillion to one chance of someone from the Buffalo Bill Museum falling across it... but no, we opted to contact them, offering to cover them in the article and of course link to them, sadly lining pockets was not a prospect for us and so we are spurned.

Of course it is NOT the fault of the Buffalo Bill Museum that these are the morals that the world runs by and we do not blame them for this obviously, they were but a catalyst of realisation... sad realisation that the world essentially is based on greed and commodification, even of those long gone, it's no longer about education, about spreading the word, about the dissemination of knowledge, noone cares about that UNLESS you can pay the entrance fee, then by all means come, learn, see our wonderful displays.

Fight the Power:
Battered and ashamed... that's me this month. All ready to go to the G8 Rally in Edinburgh, all ready to show the British government and of course the media of the 'media subjected' world that we 'the people' are NOT taking it any more, we've had it god dammit!! We're going to turn out in our droves!! ... but wait... you don't want to be caught up in something bad and arrested do you? You don't want to be pummelled and beaten because you were standing too close to Tommy Hooligan who just smashed the windows at McDonalds do you? ... Of course not... so you second guess yourself and come to the only conclusion you can, I'll just stay in, safer that way and it's not like it matters anyway, noone gave a toss when over a million people marched in London to stop the War in Iraq (the new one, not the old one!), ahh I feel much safer and it will save me the drive *relieved sigh*

Girl Power!!:
Oh please give me a break, what power? How many women will get a say at the G8 Summit? As I researched for a quick replacement for Annie Oakley, panicked that the deadline was fast approaching I came across a list, a list of women who had done amazing things throughout history... I recognized a few of them only and I have studied Gender at University level. Sad? Yes, but not wholly surprised.. sickened more the word. My gender lecturer would say "you know why it's called history? Because it's HIS story, not yours". Nice.

You want / need an abortion, You're Gay. God hates you and wants you to burn in hell. These are the peace loving messages of OUR time, this is the vitriol [some] God loving people spit... fundametal only describes you if you're an 'ethnic minority', otherwise you're just a good citizen, trying to bring back family values. Like the woman in Florida who this week got Gay books banned from state libraries, not sex books, ALL gay literature. But this isn't Hitleresq book burning, this is good for the country, this is good for you.

The solution?
Well there isn't one is there? I'd love to hear it if there is, start a topic in our forums and tell me the answer. How do we turn the world around, because the only thing I can think of is an external threat, a martian invasion, then let's see borders fall and people letting other people use their poxy photos for a reciprocal link because that's all they have to offer at this time.
