Splintercell
Chaos Theory
Sam Fisher is back in Splintercell
Chaos Theory and this time he's sneaking
around on the N-Gage! But is it truly
possible to transfer what is essentially
a huge hit on next gen consoles to the
tiny N-Gage? The thought of such a feat
seems not only impossible but highly
unlikely but developers Torus Games
and Publisher Gamesloft have done just
that as this preview explains.
The graphics on this
title are brilliant for a handheld.
I wasn't expecting much, in fact I wasn't
even expecting full third and first
person splintercell styled gaming, I
thought this wasgoing to be a platform
game and I'm still quite taken aback
that it isn't. Somehow Torus have managed
to squeeze the essence of the larger
console cousins onto the tiny N-Gage
and they've done it fairly well with
graphics that cover all the splintercell
bases, there's even night vision and
infra red! Locations are fairly diverse
as well and it will be interesting to
see the full retail version in action
because this preview is something special.
The sound on splintercell
chaos theory is good also. The music
used compliments the gameplay and varying
sequences as do the varying sound effects.
Character dialogue is also well done
with the bad guys squealing 'Who's there!?'
and various other remarks, most of the
spoken dialogue in game is written on
screen however which is a bonus for
the deaf gamer as it means they can
follow the story.
Overall I've found
the preview version of Splintercell
Chaos Theory on the Nokia N-Gage to
be a surprsing title that matches its
larger console cousins for intensity
of play. The graphics are good for the
N-Gage as is the sound, whilst the options
available (including N-Gage arena) to
the player truly open up the world of
Sam Fisher to a global audience. I can't
wait to review this title and complete
this game.
