Pocket
Kingdom:
Own The World
PREVIEW
Wow, a massively multiplayer mobile
game on your N-Gage? Is it true? Yup,
it most certainly is and those of you
who want a little bit of empire building
combined with fierce competition against
other gamers around the world will be
happy to know that Pocket Kingdom: Own
The World can offer you this and more.
Sega have developed this MMOG (Massive
Multiplayer Online Battle Game) for
those who want to utilise the N-Gage
arena and truly get into the finer points
of multiplayer gaming.
Set in a fantasy landscape, you use
strategy to mobilise your armies in
their search and exploration of the
Map of Ulgress. During your adventure
you can pick up cool little pieces of
treasure, obtain more recruits for your
army and of course have the joy of using
these against other players.
Ok so the best feature of this game
is by far the fact that its available
to play against numerous other players
from all over the world but even in
single player mode there is plenty here
to keep you interested. You can build
up your skills and experience to use
against other players and you’ll
find there are always plenty of objects
to collect and auction off to others.
The graphics are fine and handle the
requirements of the gameplay without
many problems. It’s cartoony and
there are some funky bright colours
in the background that will keep you
visually pleased. Some of the dialogue
will have you chuckling but over all
it isn’t too bad. At first when
you play you’re likely to be a
little confused as to how it all works
but it soon becomes clear. One of the
worst things is that you don’t
get to see all of the battles but that’s
ok. The sound is pretty good for something
of this size and I think that the best
part is definitely going to be playing
against others as this is where you’ll
really get the most out of the game.
Overall I’d say this is a good
attempt at MMOG and if these are the
types of games you enjoy you’re
likely to find this one fun to play.
The female gamer angle doesn’t
really come into it as there’s
not much choice in this game to distinguish
overly between male and female characters
however, it will appeal to females who
enjoy the interaction of playing with
real people rather than AI.
We look forward to reviewing the full
retail version of this title.
