Pathway To Glory: Ikusa Islands
Pathway To Glory: Ikusa Islands is
the follow up to the fantastic Pathway
To Glory that was released last year
on the N-Gage. If you’ve read
my review of that particular title you’ll
know that I was pleasantly surprised
by how much I enjoyed it and Ikusa Islands
is no different. It follows the same
turn based strategy as the first where
you basically play a squad of soldiers
during WW2.
The graphics on this second outing
for Pathway To Glory seem slightly improved
over the first and everything on screen
is easy to see as well as lovely to
look at. I enjoy the way the mechanics
of this title work and they’ve
continued with the same style of play
for Ikusa Islands even though the backgrounds
are different and so on. There are 10
levels of play and 5 missions within
each level which all stacks up to a
pretty long game, particularly because
it’s on such a small card. Nokia
themselves are suggesting that there’s
between 100-150 hours of gameplay on
this tiny card.
Pathway To Glory: Ikusa Islands has
made the most of the N-Gage’s
abilities by allowing Bluetooth play
and arena play for up to six players.
You can also use Game Share if your
friends don’t have the game but
to be honest they should have it, it’s
that good. One of the funky things about
playing with other people is that you
can send them audio messages whilst
playing and it’s so much fun sending
over an audio message of ‘I’m
so going to own you right now matey!’.
Ahh nice.
Pathway To Glory: Ikusa Islands is
a must have title for the N-Gage. It’s
kept the same integral aspects of the
first title that made it so good, but
it’s added in little extras and
enhancements to keep you interested.
You can now run people over if you feel
that shooting them has become a little
dull and the new weapons and soldiers
all add to the improved feel of the
game. Brilliant fun and even better
with the sound effects from the game,
that actually features an entirely new
musical score. This is one of those
must have Nokia N-Gage titles. You can
pick it up and play for as long as you
want and it can become extremely addictive
and engaging. No pun intended, we’ll
bring you an in depth full review as
soon as we can.
